New church farm > Walk with Richard brook, professor of architecture, Lancaster university

Walked through New Church Farm housing estate and towards the Mike Cumiskey concrete artworks alongside Railway Road. We discussed with Richard his interest in this architecture, how politically it could exist, what were the social reasons for a new town? What hopes and benefits did this type of modernist design bring to Skelmersdale?

Viewing the Cumiskey public artworks installed at the outset of the New Town, we discussed with Richard the interventions we undertook to reclaim these artworks from forgetfulness.
